Meal planning is truly one of the best ways to cut down your grocery bill. I also find that my life is less stressful if I know what we are having for dinner.
My evenings are spent running my boys to after school activities that I don't want to stress about dinner nor do I want to blow my weekly budget by eating out, not to mention it is much healthier to eat home cooked meals.
Here are my top meal planning tips for ya.
- Plan a weeks worth of meals.
- Use what you have in your pantry and freezer.
- Make a list of items you need to make your meals.
- Shop loss leaders for meat and produce specials to use in your meal plan.
- Cook double or triple and freeze for another week.
- Use your crock pot or delay start on your oven on busy nights.
IF you have a plan you will not have to make several little trips to the store to get last-minute items you should have everything you need.

Okay. Makes sense. By "loss leader" what do you mean? The store with the best price?
I find menu planning helps me immensely. It uses up the things I have in my pantry, takes advantage of sales and helps me use leftovers - usually re-incarnated into something else.
I just stumbled on your site and it's very nice....
